Self-Portrait ("Listen", Carbon Pencil on Paper, 2010)

This was about a month of work. I learned a lot about my features and used this piece as an opportunity to introduce a conceptual element. I'm never without my music and I thought I should include it somehow. Some may pick up the earphones and some may be confused but either one is fine by me. The biggest problem I had apart from the drawing is getting a good photo of it so I ended up scanning it. It's still not the same as the original but it'll do for now.

  3. Jeff, I sent you a thank you message on AP but thanks again!

Joe, thank you for checking out my blog. I'm actually finished school so I'm getting heavy into my new body of work and making things happen. The blog helps, and I'm starting to like marketing in general. I'll be sure to check out your blog too!

  4. Nice one,Crystal. You do some lovely work. Keep it up. Love the music angle to the drawing, though subtle, it is just right to drive home the point. In that regard, although I may not be seen with earphones all the time, I too get a kick out of listening to music and some of the musicians ( progressive rock bands ) are some of my biggest inspirations.

  5. Thanks Kirants :) I'm glad you got the concept, I've never done anything like it and I want to do more. I listen to everything while I'm working on stuff, like classical, pop, rock, reggae...anything. I can't not listen to music while I'm painting.
